What is Restorative yoga?

Restorative yoga aims to achieve balance between physical, mental and emotional state with the aid of comfortable props such as blankets, bolsters, blocks and belts. Restorative yoga is the perfect complement to the more dynamic classes we teach at the Yoga Loft.

This is a class for moving back into balance, supporting the nervous system and well-being. Restorative Yoga helps to down-shift the physiology of the body where deep relaxation can occur. This class allows time and space to release tension in our joints, muscles and tissues.

This style of practising yoga is indispensable for nervous system awareness. It also supports better sleep, helps manage stress levels and is ideal for those recovering from illness.

Who it's for

The perfect class for beginners and anyone in need of a slow stretch. Ideal if you're managing stress, struggling with sleep or recovering from illness, or if you have a strong yoga practice that needs balancing out. No experience or flexibility required.

What to expect

  • Comfortable props provided throughout: blankets, bolsters, blocks and belts.
  • Poses held long and fully supported. Nothing is forced.
  • Time and space to release tension in your joints, muscles and tissues.
